Oil Pastel Baseball Portraits

Long before I could call myself an artist, I have always been obsessed with baseball. I've played, coached and officiated, but now I connect with the game I love through my art. I enjoy doing portraits of players from all eras, levels and generally all walks of life. Recently I've taken a special interest in learning more about the Negro Leagues and the amazing characters that played during that era.This collection will be displayed in the community art space in Ashland Art Works gallery during the month of November!

About the Artist

I grew up in the small town of Ashland Oregon where I fell in love with all sports, but particularly baseball. My world revolved around it. In school however, I always had a pencil in hand and doodled wherever and whenever I could. I always new that one day I wanted to do more with my art, but rarely found the time. My love of baseball eventually transitioned into a love of the outdoors and my 20's were filled with adventures of biking hiking and skiing in Southern Oregon, Northern California and beyond. It was not until knee surgery in 2024 forced me to pick up a pencil and begin to draw again just to help keep me sane during recovery. It was during that time where I fell in love with the creative process and I have made a commitment to myself to draw/paint consistently ever since.I have grown to love portraiture and I am constantly striving to capture likeness and expression in my work while still maintaining my own unique and ever evolving style. I love learning, sharing and connecting with like minded artists from all walks of life!
